WORTH IT?

Josh and I went to Target the other night to look and see what kind of baby stuff were gonna need here in the next 5 1/2 weeks! This caught my attention and I really want it:) The bad part? Its about 250 for this little beauty!
My thinking is that we are not going to be having the baby in our room at all... its to small and we can barley walk around our bed with the space that we have. I LOVE the idea of being able to check on her without going into her room and risk waking her up. Making sure she falls asleep okay and see what she does after I leave the room when she gets old enough to move around.
I'm kinda nervous to have her in the other room from the beginning. Has anyone ever not had the newborn sleep in their room before?
Also.... would this just be dumb and a waste of money? Mom's.... Dad's..... anyone who's been around babies, what do you think?

  1. Really I think it depends on how big your house is, if you have a really big house I can see it coming in handy.

Arvilla stayed in our room for 1 night, then was in her own. We never closed the door when she'd sleep for naps or at night, and she would just sleep through any noise (and still is an amazing sleeper). That way I could go check on her any time I wanted without having to worry about waking her up with the sound of the door opening and closing.

  2. Some people are appalled at this but Roslyn has slept in her room from night 1 at home (at the hospital, we were there for 2 nights so she stayed in our room all night). I think they sleep better in their own room. I go in and check on Roslyn (and take her teddy bear away once she is asleep) and I don't wake her up. One thing with me was in the hospital when she was right next to me, I didn't sleep a wink because every little sound she made woke me up. I think just a regular baby monitor is good because I can hear Roslyn breathing on it or you can turn it down a little bit so you can definitely hear her when she's crying or stirring. I think it's totally something you and Josh need to decide together. Either way is great if it's what you decide! :)

  3. I saw that the other day too and loved it. But being a mom that has never had her baby in the room with me i agree with the regular baby monitor. Actually, I never even had one until I had Barry and we had an upstairs. You will be surprised how well you hear her in the night!!! Love you!

  5. Both Jaylyn and Samantha have been in their own room since day 1!! I was nervous at first too, but a baby monitor helped me relax because I could hear them breathing. You really will be able to hear her. Especially in the Parowan house.

  6. I love that!! I would probably watch Aydree all the time! Aydree was in her room from day one. We here her really well, we don't even use a monitor. But that little camera is pretty tempting!

  7. We only had Katie in our room the first night and that was it. We have a baby monitor that is still on my night stand. And it works great. The only other times we had Katie in our room was when she was sick. Other than that she has been in her your room ever since.
A new baby will take over the house, so for us, it was nice to just have our bedroom to ourselves.

  8. We moved Amberli into her own room on day 2.
That was after I spent the night bawling and she spent the night bawling. Roger insisted... and baby and I both slept better!!! Did that with ALL the other kids except Maeci. I think she lasted in our room a week.
